Meet Your Therapist

I’m Anjali Acharya, a California Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #153751) and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC #18926).

You’re looking to understand and grow through the impact of complex trauma experiences and break generational patterns. You’re also trying to find a balance between cultural expectations and who you’re becoming. You want a stronger relationship with yourself, and with other people in your life.

I work with folks wanting to navigate these in-between spaces of identity, culture, and relationships as a therapist who gets the nuance and complexity of it all. In therapy with me, we’ll make space for your voice, your needs, and your future. You deserve to be seen for who you’ve been and for who you’re becoming.

If you’re ready to reconnect with yourself and your story, I’d love to help you get there!

I am a second-generation Asian American, and was raised in both California and India. I earned my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from California State University, Fullerton, and have an MS in Clinical Psychology and a BA in Communications, English, and Psychology from Christ University, Bangalore. I also retain inherited and shared wisdom from my culture and the communities I am a part of. I fluently speak Kannada, Tulu, Hindi, and Tamil.

My Approach

I practice from a narrative stance, which means that I approach all of my sessions collaboratively, with curiosity. I want to get the know the “whole” you, not just what you’re struggling with.

I also draw from Gestalt, Expressive Arts, Internal Family Systems, Somatic, and Solution-Focused therapies, tailoring my work to each client. Everyone is unique, and we’ll work together to find what fits best for you.

I strive to maintain a culturally sensitive, decolonial, feminist, queer-affirmative, and trauma-informed lens in my work. I believe it’s important to recognize how different systems and structures in the world shape and affect you.

I love integrating fiction into my work, so definitely bring in your favorite pieces of media for us to work with!
